Spencer Hughes opens up 2024 season at Golden Isles with Lucas Oil

Joining the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on their opening weekend, Spencer Hughes and the JCM Motorsports team invaded Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) on Thursday afternoon for the Super Bowl of Racing.

As 50 other Late Models descended to the facility, Hughes finished one spot short of transfer in his heat race which relegated him a B-Main. Needing a Top-2 in his 10-lap LCS, Spencer found himself in a stacked field and was unable to crack the A-Main field.

Losing Friday's event to weather, Hughes returned to the track Saturday but once again struggled in preliminary action. Taking a provisional for the 60-lap, $25,000-to-win main event, Spencer made up sixth spots to finish 18th.

Full results from the series opener can be found at www.LucasDirt.com.
