Herrington falls short of Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series championship at Swainsboro
In the tour's final weekend of competition, Wil Herrington and the JCM Motorsports team followed the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series to Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway on Friday afternoon for the opening round of the two-day Southern Showcase.
Stopping the clock sixth-quickest in qualifying, Wil earned a spot in the A-Main after finishing third in his heat race. Needing a good points night to stay in contention, Herrington moved forward five positions to finish inside the Top-10 in seventh.
With the field elevated to 34 Super Late Models on Saturday, Herrington received a provisional starting spot after getting buried in qualifying. In the $23,000-to-win season finale, Wil fell short of the $20,000 championship after a 15th-place outing in the 60-lap main event.
Herrington wound up third in the series point standings.
