Herrington and JCM Motorsports tackle Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway
Wil Herrington returned to Super Late Model competition on Friday afternoon at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) as the JCM Motorsports crew tackled the 33rd-running of the Prairie Dirt Classic with the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series.
Among a whopping 63 entries on site, Herrington qualified an impressive fifth-fastest in his group which earned him a second-row starting spot in his $5,000 preliminary feature. In the short 25-lap sprint, Wil fell back to sixth early before a few lucky breaks propelled him into the Top-3. On the final two-lap shootout, Wil passed Shannon Babb for the runner-up spot and secured a redraw position in Saturday's finale.
For Saturday's $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic, Wil pulled the number seven in the redraw which placed him on the fourth-row for the 100-lap showdown. Cruising inside the Top-10 for the first 15 laps, Herrington started dealing with handling issues which forced him to pull in. He was scored 27th in the final rundown.
