Herrington attends Gateway Dirt Nationals in St. Louis

Wil made the trip to St Louis, Missouri this past weekend to compete in the annual Gateway Dirt Nationals inside the Dome at America’s Center. His weekend started off on Friday when he qualified 4th, putting himself on the outside of the front row in his heat race. He ran second in his heat, earning the seventh starting spot in the night’s preliminary feature event. In the feature, he rolled off 7th and quickly made his way into the top five, working into the top three and eventually settling in to the second spot and racing to a runner up finish in his first ever visit to the dome.

Saturday night, he redrew the 3rd starting spot for the 40-lap, $30,000 to win Late Model finale and after moving into the second spot early, he raced by into the lead and paced the field for a large portion of the feature race, looking for a huge win, but unfortunately after a lap 35 restart, he got into the wall and broke the j-bar, ending his bid for the win and ending his night early. He was credited with a 9th place finish officially.
